Miracle Boy in Dragon Land
A new game on Atari ST?
Miracle Boy in Dragon Land is a retro gem developed by SamSoft, a studio that brings together the talents of Samuel Blanchard (code) and DMA-SC (music). Designed in 68000 assembler for the Atari ST, the game is optimized to run on an Atari STf. Smooth scrolling, parallax, 50 on-screen colors, numerous sprites, and gigantic bosses are all part of the package! The whole experience demonstrates a rare technical mastery on this vintage platform.
Gameplay side
Miracle Boy in Dragon Land offers a magical adventure across 25 levels, combining exploration, puzzles, mini-games, and equipment upgrades. The player takes on the role of Paolo, tasked with freeing the kingdom from the clutches of the evil Count Drago in a universe inspired by the classic Wonder Boy in Monster World. The available demo already allows players to try out the first three levels, revealing a colorful universe, fluid gameplay, and immersive sound. Compatible with both joystick and keyboard, the game stands out as a modern benchmark for the Atari ST, hailed by the community as one of the best titles ever made for this machine.
Compatibility
The game is compatible with Atari STf/STe with at least 1MB of memory and runs in low PAL resolution (320x200). If you want to use the game's digital sounds (apart from the music), 2MB is required. Falcon and TT models are not officially supported as SamSoft does not have the necessary hardware to ensure optimal game performance on these platforms. The game runs on floppy drives, Gotek, and the ACSI2STM hard drive emulator. SamSoft does not guarantee that all hard drive drivers are supported, although the HDD driver appears to work correctly. If you are using a floppy drive, an additional floppy disk is required to save your progress. On the Atari ST, the game will be available in both physical and digital versions. It will also be available digitally on PC.
Release date
We estimate the release date for mid-2026 but we reserve the right to postpone this date if the deliverable (digital or physical) does not give us full satisfaction, this before offering you an optimal experience!
